First class carriage A2 5043
This carriage type is still considered by many to be the most comfortable carriage ever built. It was commonly used on main line express trains in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
Built in 1964 by ASJ in Linköping, first class carriage A2 5043 was built as a first class steel carriage in 1960s style.
The carriage has two saloons and two compartments with teak walls and swivel armchairs. The exterior has been restored to the same condition as in the 1970s and 1980s, but has modern equipment in the form of disc brakes, vacuum toilets and 230V sockets at the seats.
SJ used these carriages in service well into the 2000s, and it is still possible to travel with them on routes operated by Tågab.
