Children and families
The Swedish Railway Museum has plenty to offer families.
We have something for everyone in the family!
Inside the museum:
Play and dress up in the Little Station playroom. Visit our shop with sustainable, educational products for children, or grab a bite to eat at the Ångpannan restaurant. You can also bring a packed lunch and dine in our special picnic carriage at the entrance.
The outdoor area next to the museum:
Experience historical railway buildings, such as the Hosäter track tender’s cabin and the Hennan station building. Take a ride on the mini-train and visit the playground next to the Ångpannan restaurant patio.
Railbus to the Train Hall
During the summer, the railbus operates between the museum and the Train Hall vehicle storage facility. Travel on the railbus is included in the entrance fee. The railbus also passes Gävle Central Station for boarding and disembarking in both directions.
Visit the Train Hall:
The Train Hall is the vehicle storage facility of the Swedish Railway Museum and it is open for visitors during the summer season. In the Train Hall, you can stroll around one of the largest rail vehicle collections in the world, and learn about the history of the railway, from its early days up to today. It is here where you can check out the big, cool locomotives, carriages and wagons.
If you’re in the mood for light refreshments, coffee, tea, water, soft drinks and ice cream can be purchased on site.
