SJ developed this wagon model with international dimensions according to what is known as the UIC standard. UIC is the International Union of Railways, a European cooperation body.
Beginning in 1954, SJ purchased a total of 3,875 wagons of this type. Wagon 47133 was built in 1956 by Kalmar Verkstad and has been restored to like-new appearance.
Large water tanks and pumps are installed on the inside. The water tanks hold 15 cubic metres of water. The water is used to supply water to steam locomotives, and to supply water to passenger carriages, sleeper carriages and the restaurant carriage for multi-day journeys. The wagon may travel at a maximum of 100 kilometres per hour.
