Second class carriage Co9b 2798
Built in 1930 by Kockums in Malmö, second class carriage Co9b 2798 is a passenger carriage with a riveted steel body. This carriage type of one of SJ’s first major steel carriage series.
The carriage interior consists solely of compartments, offering a total of 88 seats. It has undergone very few changes since it was built in 1930.
The windows are opened by pulling a leather strap, causing the window frame to move inwards so that the window can be pulled down. The carriage served as a third class carriage until 1956, when it was upgraded to second class.
It was taken out of service in the 1980s, but was saved by the association Kalmar Järnvägars Museiförening, which renovated it. It came to the Swedish Railway Museum in the 1990s, where it was completely renovated and then put into service in 1998.
